From paper to real-time information in the warehouse

Home / WMS / From paper to real-time information in the warehouse

We talk to many potential customers (warehouse managers, operations logistics executives) who want to improve their operations and warehouse efficiency. Most of the time, they call us when they can not bear the “pain.”

And usually the painful problems are the same:
– Goods are stored incorrectly and are subsequently lost through warehouse
– Errors of all kinds, from reception, put away, picking, etc.
– Sending orders late
– High costs, especially due to the ones already outlined above

The bigger the organization, the more intense the pains. And when information is kept on paper sheets or spreadsheets, finding the right information at the right time becomes a rather difficult task. Activity planning, such as picking, is a task that is done manually: the people sort the picking lists according to priorities and hand them to the operators. After sorting and picking, the orders are ready for shipment and the information is to be recorded manually (regardless of the form and instrument used) for later use for billing and reporting. Manually recording information is causing many and great errors.

Exiting the use of paper, spreadsheets and from the maze of manual data entry is possible, but it also requires an investment of time, money, and acceptance of change. Ultimate warehouse management systems put data (orders, inventory information, SKU information, etc.) into a database available to perform operations, including receiving, managing the location, choosing, packing, shipping, etc. and use barcode scanners that electronically direct tasks for warehouse workers.

FluxVision WMS receives instructions through scanners and sends information to the database as the work is completed. Everything is recorded in real time: who did what, where and when. A major benefit is the traceability that FluxVision offers you about stored goods, as well as the existence of a perpetual real-time inventory system so that there is no inconsistency between the information in the documents and those in the deposit. The database is a rich source of operational information that can serve as support for any kind of report or analysis.
